This dive site, Khom Beach (Haad Khom), is a charming small cove situated on the northeastern headland of Chaloklum, Koh Phangan. It is renowned as a popular and safe location for both snorkeling and introductory scuba diving. The cove's naturally protected position shields it from offshore winds and waves, ensuring calm underwater conditions that are ideal for learning and leisurely exploration of its thriving shallow reef.
The diverse marine ecosystem here features a large variety of soft and hard corals that form a vibrant underwater landscape. Divers and snorkelers can expect to encounter an abundance of small marine life, including Black-spotted porcupinefish, Titan Triggerfish, Goatfish, Groupers, and Gobys, alongside numerous schools of small fish. The presence of turtles adds an extra layer of excitement to the underwater experience.
While no specific best time to visit is mentioned, the general dry season in Thailand (typically November to April) offers the most favorable conditions with calm seas and excellent visibility for diving and snorkeling. With a maximum depth of 11 meters and an average depth of approximately 5 meters, Khom Beach is perfectly suited for extended bottom times and is a fantastic spot for macro photography enthusiasts. It provides a relaxed and rewarding experience for divers of all levels, especially beginners and freedivers.
