This dive site, known as Malong Bay or Turtle Rock, is situated on the west side of Phi Phi Leh, just north of the famous Maya Bay. It's a popular and generally easy dive, characterized by its shallow depths and a typical reef environment. Navigation is straightforward, making it suitable for divers of all experience levels looking for a relaxed exploration.
The main draw for marine life here includes sea turtles, which are frequently spotted, giving the site its alternative name 'Turtle Rock'. Blacktip reef sharks are also common encounters. Beyond the larger marine life, the bay is renowned for its abundant and diverse macro life, including various crustaceans, nudibranchs, and small reef fish inhabiting the coral formations.
The best time to visit Malong Bay is between December and May when conditions are most favorable, though it can be dived occasionally during the monsoon season. Its shallow profile makes it an excellent location for beginner divers, underwater photography enthusiasts focusing on macro subjects, and also highly suitable for both snorkeling and freediving due to the vibrant marine ecosystem close to the surface.
