This dive site is named Mushroom Rock due to a prominent pinnacle resembling a mushroom, one of several large rock formations that break the surface. Located on the west side, just past the northern tip of Phi Phi Ley, it offers a visually striking underwater topography with these impressive pinnacles forming the core of the dive. Navigation is typically around these formations.
The site boasts vibrant soft coral covering its structures, attracting a rich diversity of marine life. Divers can expect to encounter large schools of yellowback fusiliers, impressive barracudas, and shimmering golden trevallies. In the shallower sections, it's common to spot graceful turtles and the occasional black tip reef shark.
The best time to visit Mushroom Rock, like much of Thailand's Andaman Sea, is during the dry season from November to April, when visibility is generally excellent. Its shallow average depth and sheltered nature make it an ideal spot for both divers of all levels and freedivers seeking to explore its rich ecosystem. Snorkelers will also enjoy the vibrant shallow reefs.
