This dive site, known as Viking Cave, is located a few hundred meters north of the famous Viking Cave landmark in Thailand. Once a site affected by the tsunami, the Phuket Marine Conservation department established a beautiful artificial reef to revitalize marine life. Divers can explore the successful rehabilitation efforts and the vibrant ecosystem it has fostered.
The artificial reef is now home to a diverse array of marine species, including elegant long-finned Batfish, striking Lionfish, and the distinctive Leopard Sharks. In the shallower waters of the adjacent bay, fortunate divers and snorkelers can often spot adorable baby Blacktip reef sharks, adding an exciting dimension to the marine encounters.
The best time to visit this dive site for optimal conditions and marine life sightings is typically during the dry season, from November to April, when visibility is usually at its best. Its shallow maximum depth of 15 meters and average depth of 7 meters make it highly suitable for both scuba divers and freedivers of all experience levels, particularly those new to diving. Snorkelers will also find the shallow bay area rewarding.
