This dive site, White Rock at Pansea Beach, is located approximately 15 minutes by longtail boat from BangTao Beach on Phuket, Thailand. It features an interesting collection of underwater boulders that vary in depth, starting around 2 meters and descending to a maximum of 12 meters. Divers typically navigate by swimming east into a sheltered bay, exploring the natural landscape of boulders, sandy patches, and small coral formations. There is no specific historical account or known story associated with this natural reef.
The marine life at White Rock is vibrant, particularly for smaller species. Divers frequently encounter abundant glassfish, various reef fish, and may spot moray eels, cuttlefish, colorful nudibranchs, charming clownfish, and well-camouflaged scorpion fish. While coral patches are present, the main draw lies in the diversity of macro life and the active reef ecosystem found among the rock formations and sandy areas.
White Rock is highly suitable for both day and night dives. Night dives offer the unique opportunity to witness bioluminescent plankton, creating a magical underwater light show. The shallow depth and typically mild currents make it an excellent site for beginner divers, training dives, and those seeking relaxed exploration. It's also an ideal spot for snorkelers and freedivers, with interesting features starting just below the surface.
