About this dive site

This dive site is the Wreck Eso, a minelayer that sank approximately 8km off the coast of Djerba, near Ras Turgueness, Tunisia. Discovered in 2014, it rests at a depth of 20 meters. Navigation is straightforward once you reach the wreck; however, boat access is required due to its distance from the shore. The wreck itself provides a fascinating structure for exploration, with various penetration opportunities for experienced divers (always dive within your limits and with a buddy). Remember to maintain buoyancy control to avoid damaging the wreck or disturbing marine life.

The wreck is teeming with marine life. Divers can expect to see a variety of fish, including dentex, red and white groupers, rays, turtles, octopus, corbels, billfish, and parrotfish. Dolphins are also occasionally sighted in the area. The diverse ecosystem surrounding the wreck supports a rich variety of invertebrate life, offering excellent opportunities for macro photography.

The best time to visit is during the warmer months (May-October), when visibility is typically best and the water temperature is more comfortable. Strong currents can be present at times, so it's advisable to check weather and sea conditions before diving. For divers, experience with wreck diving is recommended. This is not a suitable site for beginner divers or snorkelers. For freediving, the depth makes it unsuitable for most freediving purposes.
