About this dive site

This dive site, known as Conga Alley, is a popular shore dive located on the north end of Loch Long in Scotland. It offers a diverse underwater environment with abundant marine life. The area features two impressive reefs teeming with activity and is aptly named due to the presence of numerous conga eels that often seek refuge beneath boulders. Divers may also encounter mackerel, dogfish, starfish, anemones, seals, and occasionally lobsters. Due to silty conditions in some areas, maintaining good buoyancy is crucial. The surrounding hills provide protection from prevailing weather, resulting in minimal currents and making it accessible for diving throughout much of the year. Water temperatures typically range between 10°C and 15°C (50°F and 59°F), suggesting the use of a thick wetsuit or drysuit. The maximum depth reachable is up to 30 meters (98 feet). Visibility generally ranges from 5 to 10 meters (16 to 32 feet).
