About this dive site

This dive site is a unique underwater park located on Catalina Island, California. It's the first nonprofit underwater park of its kind in the United States and potentially worldwide, offering exceptional shore diving opportunities. The area provides a diverse underwater experience suitable for both novice and experienced divers. Scuba diving here takes advantage of clear waters free from mainland pollution and surf. The depth ranges from the shoreline down to 95 feet. The seabed features a varied landscape including rock walls, outcroppings, boulders, pinnacles, and sandy areas, reflecting Catalina Island’s diverse geological characteristics. The park is primarily dominated by Giant kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera), which is one of the fastest-growing plants globally. Importantly, hunting is strictly prohibited within this reserved area.
