About this dive site

This dive site, named Cindy's Corner after a former Key Dives captain, is a classic Florida Keys spur-and-groove reef formation. Located at a maximum depth of 18 meters with an average depth of around 9 meters, it offers a well-defined underwater landscape where soft sand channels meet robust coral fingers. Divers can easily navigate by following the distinct edges where the sand and reef converge.

The site is notable for its diverse marine inhabitants, particularly large bottom dwellers. Keep an eye out for various stingrays often found resting or foraging in the soft sand channels. Occasional spotted eagle rays gracefully glide along the edges of the coral fingers, providing exciting encounters. Vibrant blue parrots are also a common sight, grazing on algae throughout the reef structure.

Cindy's Corner is suitable for diving year-round, with the warmer months offering the most comfortable water temperatures and often excellent visibility. It's an excellent site for both scuba divers and freedivers due to its relatively shallow average depth, making it accessible for extended bottom times. Divers should be mindful of boat traffic, as is common in the Florida Keys, and consider diving with a local guide for the best experience.
