This dive site, known as Crater, offers an engaging underwater experience starting in a sand pit at an approximate depth of 15 meters (50 feet). Divers can easily navigate by following the distinctive spur and groove coral structures that extend towards a deeper drop-off. The western side of the pit is particularly noteworthy for exploration, often revealing impressive congregations of marine life.
The diverse ecosystem at Crater is characterized by large, healthy coral structures that serve as a habitat for beautiful schools of grunts. A major highlight is the frequent sighting of a large school of Southern sennets, typically numbering over 100 individuals, especially prominent on the west side of the pit. Beyond these schooling fish, divers have the chance to encounter majestic spotted eagle rays gracefully moving along the reef's edge, as well as occasional sea turtles and gray reef sharks.
Optimal diving conditions at Crater are generally experienced year-round, with the warmer water temperatures and typically calmer seas from May to September offering a particularly pleasant experience. While the maximum depth is 19 meters, the average depth of 9 meters means there are shallower sections perfect for extended bottom times. This site is well-suited for both divers and freedivers, with excellent snorkeling opportunities near the surface.
