About this dive site

This dive site is located at Fort Stark, a great introductory location for new divers in New England. The initial entry into the site reveals rocks covered with rockweed, providing an opportunity to observe common periwinkles, blue crabs, and flounders amongst the seaweed. Continuing the dive leads to a small wall and boulders adorned with kelp. Within this kelp habitat, lobsters and hermit crabs often reside. During springtime, lumpfish may be spotted. Winter months can also bring sightings of nudibranchs. For those who wish to explore further, a slight descent (+15 feet) reveals abundant eelgrass beds teeming with life. Fort Stark offers diving depths ranging from 15 to 25 feet, making it accessible for most levels. It’s best enjoyed during high tide, as the shallowing during low tides can limit visibility and accessibility.
