About this dive site

This dive site, Grecian Rocks, is a designated Sanctuary Protected Area located off Key Largo in the Florida Keys. The reef derives its name from the fact that its top often breaks the surface at low tide, creating a distinctive natural landmark. The site caters to both divers and snorkelers, with a maximum depth of 10 meters (30 feet) on the main diving side, and a shallower, protected inner section reaching only 4.5 meters (15 feet) which is ideal for snorkeling, offering shelter from wave action.

Grecian Rocks is celebrated for its thriving ecosystem, boasting a rich variety of marine life and diverse coral formations. Visitors can expect to encounter numerous species of colorful reef fish and an abundance of invertebrate life. It is particularly renowned as a reliable location to spot Loggerhead turtles throughout the year, and Eagle Rays are a common sight, especially during the summer months.

The site is well-suited for all skill levels, from first-time snorkelers and beginner divers to experienced enthusiasts looking for a relaxed dive. The best time to visit for Eagle Rays is summertime, though Loggerhead turtles can be found year-round. Its shallow, clear waters and protected status make it an excellent spot for underwater photography, marine life observation, and a peaceful day on the water for both scuba and freedivers.
