About this dive site
This dive site is located north of the dam on Lake Jocassee, sheltered within a cove created by Sandstone beach. Dive boats can access this area due to the cove’s protection from wind and boat traffic. Multiple dives are available in the cove, offering options for various skill levels. For newer divers, instructors often guide them to several underwater platforms at depths of 25-30 feet. Further south, a small wall drop-off presents itself at 45 to 60 feet at its base and 30 feet at its top. Venturing through the 60-foot area reveals "The Junk," a Chinese junk ship that sank many years ago – it’s remarkably safe thanks to several large holes in the wreck's structure, providing ample space for exploration. Heading west leads to another drop-off, which is significantly deeper and beyond recreational diving limits.
