About this dive site

This dive site is known as the LSM Barge 1, also called LSM 1, Cable Wreck, or LSM Wreck. It's a 235-foot WWII Navy Landing Ship Module that was intentionally deployed in 1976 as an artificial reef. Located off the southern end of the Indian Shores Artificial Reef, it provides an easily navigable structure for divers.

The wreck is a vibrant habitat for diverse marine life. Divers can expect to see large pelagic species like King and Spanish mackerel, as well as resident goliath groupers, barracuda, and blacktip sharks. Various other reef fish and invertebrates likely inhabit the structure, contributing to a rich ecosystem.

Due to its shallow depth, this site is ideal for beginner divers, snorkelers, and freedivers. The best time to visit for optimal marine life viewing would generally be during warmer months when fish activity is higher. Always check local weather and sea conditions before planning a trip to ensure safety and enjoyable diving.
