About this dive site

This dive site is located at Sandy Point State Park in the metro DC area, specifically along the Chesapeake Bay. Diving is generally not permitted within the park itself; however, Dive Against Debris events organized by Blue Planet Scuba offer opportunities for experienced divers to explore the bay’s shoreline. These events provide a chance to practice dive skills while collecting trash. The site has limited visibility, typically less than 5 feet, and water temperatures fluctuate considerably throughout the year. It's not considered ideal for recreational diving due to these conditions. Beyond its waters, the park also features beaches, picnic areas, a busy marina, food vendors, fishing spots, shelters, bathhouses, and playgrounds. The park is open year-round with associated fees that vary by season; early summer access may be restricted due to capacity limits.
