This dive site, known as Sharky’s Scuba Spot at Lake Tenkiller, is a freshwater scuba park primarily used for diver training but also suitable for certified divers of all skill levels. The unique draw of this site is its collection of intentionally sunken vehicles, including a school bus, a boat, and a helicopter, which provide interesting navigation and exploration opportunities. While there's no specific historical narrative beyond being a dedicated training and recreational site, these artificial reefs create an engaging underwater environment.
The aquatic ecosystem within Lake Tenkiller offers sightings of various freshwater marine life. Divers can expect to encounter common fish species such as Perch and Catfish, which thrive in the lake's environment. The sunken structures may also attract smaller aquatic creatures, forming mini-ecosystems around them.
The site is ideal for year-round diving, though water temperatures will vary with seasons; summer months likely offer the warmest conditions. Highlights include exploring the diverse sunken attractions and practicing buoyancy and navigation skills in a controlled environment. Both snorkelers and freedivers will find the shallow average depth of 5 meters, with a maximum of 11 meters, very accommodating for exploring the tops of the wrecks and observing freshwater fish. Divers are advised to be mindful of potential cold water outside of peak summer and consider appropriate thermal protection.
