The island's name, "Mudjimba," translates to "Old Woman" from its aboriginal origin, stemming from an indigenous dream time story. The site features a shallow wall that descends from a reef top at approximately 3 to 6 meters down to an average depth of 6 meters, with a maximum depth of 12 meters, making it an accessible and enjoyable location for various skill levels.

The reef boasts an abundance of marine life, offering a vibrant underwater spectacle. Divers and snorkelers can expect to encounter numerous types of colourful corals and a diverse array of fish.
