This dive site, Strandbad Pesenthein, offers easy shore access via a well-maintained lido on Millstätter See. Underwater, the site gently slopes from the shore, transitioning from a light stony bottom to lush vegetation up to 8 meters. Beyond this, the bottom drops significantly to 120 meters, though the main recreational diving area remains shallower.
The sunlit shore area is teeming with life, featuring countless schools of fish. Divers can observe various species including perch, rudd, pike (some from 10cm), tench, carp, and catfish, all thriving within the dense aquatic vegetation.
The best time to visit is during daylight hours to fully appreciate the sunlit shore and vibrant vegetation. It is highly suitable for both scuba divers, especially beginners, and freedivers looking to explore the rich shallow ecosystem. Remember to be mindful of cold water in deeper sections, though the primary attractions are in warmer, shallower zones.
