This dive site features the tugboat Lupus, intentionally sunk alongside the Minuano and Servemar X, forming an artificial reef complex off the coast of Brazil. The Lupus wreck lies at a minimum depth of 30 meters and extends to a maximum of 36 meters. Divers can explore its well-preserved structure, observing intact sections and prominent features such as two large chimneys located next to the cockpit. The wreck serves as a navigational point and a rich habitat for marine life.
As an artificial reef, Lupus attracts a diverse array of marine animals. Divers frequently encounter large schools of various fish species. Significant pelagic and demersal inhabitants include groupers, snappers, turtles, rays, and nurse sharks, all drawn to the shelter and food sources provided by the submerged vessel.
The best time to visit this dive site for optimal conditions is typically during Brazil's dry season, generally from September to March, offering calmer seas and potentially better visibility. Lupus is an advanced dive, suitable for experienced divers due to its depth. While not suitable for snorkeling or casual freediving, advanced freedivers with appropriate training might attempt it. Highlights include the opportunity for wide-angle photography of the wreck and the abundant marine life.
