About this dive site
This dive site is the Chrisoula K., one of four famous wrecks on the Abu Nuhas reef, located approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes north of Elgouna, Egypt. The wreck lies at depths ranging from 4 meters at the bow to 27 meters at the stern, making it a fascinating dive for intermediate divers. Navigation is relatively straightforward, following the wreck's structure from bow to stern, exploring the various compartments and observing the extensive tiling that remains intact. The wreck's history is part of its allure, offering a glimpse into maritime history.
The marine life around the Chrisoula K. is diverse and abundant. Divers can expect to encounter sand eels, batfish, morays, lionfish, turtles, nudibranchs, flutefish, and scorpionfish, amongst other species. Soft corals also provide vibrant colors and habitat for various invertebrates. The wreck itself provides shelter for many creatures.
The best time to visit is during the warmer months, from April to November, when the water is calm and visibility is usually at its best. Divers should always check weather conditions and current forecasts before undertaking this dive. Due to the depth and potential currents, this is not suitable for beginners or freediving, and it is crucial to maintain buoyancy control and appropriate safety procedures throughout the dive.
