About this dive site
This dive site is located at Dekel Beach in Eilat, Israel. It's characterized by its shallow, sandy bottom and numerous coral pinnacles that rise from the seabed, creating a diverse underwater landscape. The pinnacles range in depth from 3 to 12 meters, making navigation relatively straightforward. Divers can easily spot the pinnacles from a distance and swim to explore them.
Marine life abounds in this area. Divers can expect to see frogfish, shrimp, clownfish, houndfish (especially in the afternoon at cleaning stations), rays, squid, and turtles. The coral itself supports a variety of smaller fish and invertebrates, providing ample opportunities for macro photography.
The best time to visit is during the warmer months (spring and summer) when visibility is generally at its best and marine life is most active. The shallow depths make it an excellent site for both snorkeling and freediving. However, even experienced freedivers should be mindful of their limits and the general safety procedures. Always dive with a buddy and be sure to check the weather and current conditions before entering the water.
