About this dive site

This dive site, Dolphin Reef, is a unique and popular location in Eilat, Israel, known for its resident pod of free-ranging dolphins. The site is easily accessible from the shore, and the shallow, gently sloping reef is perfect for divers of all levels, particularly beginners. Navigating underwater is straightforward, with the reef forming a natural pathway around the shallow areas where the dolphins often swim. The site is privately owned and offers guided dives and snorkeling opportunities, making it an ideal location for those new to diving.

The marine life at Dolphin Reef is diverse, although the main attraction is, of course, the dolphins. Besides the dolphins, you can spot a variety of fish species common to the Red Sea, such as angelfish, parrotfish, and surgeonfish. While the coral is not extensive or exceptionally diverse, there are still patches of healthy hard coral and some interesting smaller reef formations. The clarity of the water allows for good visibility.

The best time to visit Dolphin Reef is during the warmer months (spring and summer), when water temperatures are pleasant and the visibility is at its best. The site is usually calmer during these months, making it ideal for both scuba divers and freedivers. Remember to respect the dolphins' space and avoid touching or harassing them. Always follow the instructions of your guide and maintain a safe distance. Suitable for snorkelling and freediving, however the shallow depths mean most dives will be fairly short.
