This dive site, Satil Eilat, is a fascinating artificial reef created by the sinking of a missile ship in 2008. It serves as a profound memorial site dedicated to 12 marines who perished in combat. Located approximately 3 km offshore in the Gulf of Eilat, the wreck rests at a maximum depth of 20 meters, with its average depth around 10 meters. Over time, the wreck has naturally broken into three distinct sections, offering divers varied exploration points within its structure.
Despite being a relatively recent addition to the underwater landscape, the Satil has quickly become a thriving ecosystem. It is rich with marine life, and divers can observe a multitude of fish species, corals, and other invertebrates that have colonized the ship's remains. The abundant life makes it a vibrant spot for observing the local Red Sea fauna and flora.
Satil Eilat is a diveable site year-round, typically offering good visibility common to the region. It is highly suitable for freedivers due to its depth range and equally enjoyable for scuba divers of various experience levels. While the maximum depth is within beginner limits, its offshore location and the nature of wreck diving make it particularly appealing to intermediate divers. Early morning dives often provide the best conditions.
