About this dive site

This dive site is located off the beach behind the marine campus of a university in Haifa, Israel. It's a relatively shallow site with a gentle drop-off, making it accessible and enjoyable for divers of all skill levels. The underwater terrain is characterized by a gradual slope covered in coral, providing a variety of habitats for marine life. Navigation is straightforward, following the gently sloping bottom. There is no known historical significance to the dive site, however its relatively recent use for marine experiments makes it a unique location.

The marine life here is abundant and diverse. You can expect to encounter numerous species of small fish, including colorful reef fish and various invertebrates such as nudibranchs. Larger animals such as turtles and blue-spotted rays are also frequently sighted. The coral itself is healthy and provides a vibrant backdrop for exploring the site.

The best time to visit is during the warmer months (May to October), when the water temperature is more comfortable and visibility tends to be better. For freedivers, the shallow depth and relatively calm conditions make it ideal for practicing breath-hold dives. Divers should pay attention to the relatively mild currents and maintain appropriate buoyancy to avoid damaging the delicate coral. The underwater environment is generally safe, but divers should remain aware of their surroundings and maintain a safe distance from marine life.
