About this dive site
This dive site, known as "Garage", is located off the coast of Italy and features two main rock formations. The primary rock is large, its top at 20 meters, sloping down to 26 meters in a southerly direction. To the north, a smaller, inverted cone-shaped rock provides additional exploration. The site is easily navigable, with a clear distinction between the two main structures. There is no known historical information or specific story tied to the dive site, however, this does not diminish its quality for exploration.
The marine life here is rich in smaller organisms perfect for macro photography. Delicate bryozoan colonies and colorful sponges are abundant, along with various smaller fish species characteristic of the Mediterranean Sea. While larger animals might not be plentiful, the area's diversity of smaller creatures will prove rewarding for those interested in the minute details of the ecosystem.
The best time to visit is likely during the warmer months (May-October) when water temperatures are more comfortable and visibility tends to be at its best. This dive site is suitable for both scuba diving and freediving, though the maximum depth is accessible only to certified divers. Divers should be mindful of their buoyancy to avoid damaging the delicate marine life, especially the sponge and bryozoan colonies. Freediving here offers an opportunity to closely study the macro subjects at their own pace and depth.
