About this dive site
This dive site offers a fascinating underwater experience suitable for divers of various skill levels. The exploration begins at a plateau located amongst Posidonia oceanica, approximately 12 meters below the surface, where anchoring is common. A gentle slope descends to 18 meters, leading to a first gully that navigates through sandy areas and reveals abundant coralligenous life characteristic of the Tuscan archipelago. A second jump takes divers to 25 meters, following a left shoulder wall. This leads to a panettone structure which slowly sinks down to over 45 meters; this area is dominated by Paramuricea clavata, creating impressive ‘forests’ of red gorgonians, some colonies extending even to -20 meters. The rocky ravines are vibrant with color—red coral, sea daisies, poriferes, colorful nudibranchs, and white/yellow gorgonians — all contributing to the rich biodiversity within this habitat, which also provides a home for numerous lobsters, hence the site’s name. These lobsters can be observed as early as 18-20 meters.
