About this dive site

This dive site, known as ‘Le Macchine/La Parete’ (The Machines/The Wall), offers a fascinating and somewhat eerie underwater experience. Located in a lake, it's a well-known spot for experienced divers. The entry is easy – a concrete staircase leads down to the beach, where a skull rock marks the starting point for the dive. From this location, you’ll find a wall plunging into the depths of the lake. Initial navigation involves drifting towards the wall while maintaining a depth between 10 and 15 meters, placing a buoy on hanging cables or slightly below a rock formation. The site is characterized by numerous submerged vehicles – initially, a large mass with a presepe at -15 meters, followed by a traffic cone at -18 meters, and finally a depiction of Christ the Savior at -10 meters. Further exploration reveals accumulations of cars stacked upon one another, reaching depths of approximately -36 meters. Divers can either return to the higher car pile or continue along the wall, discovering various objects embedded in crevices like old telephones. A commemorative plaque honoring those who have lost their lives diving in these waters sits near the upper portion of the wall. Currents are generally calm, but visibility can vary depending on weather conditions and lake levels. The area is known for its relatively clear water, with a noticeable shift to darker, colder, and clearer depths as you descend. You might encounter fish such as perch and luci (pikeperch) in shallower areas near the algae beds.
