About this dive site

This dive site is located in Baia and offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient Roman history. Commissioned by Marco Vipsanio Agrippa in 37 BC during the civil war between Octavian and Sextus Pompey, the Portus Julius served as an arsenal for the Miseno fleet. The impressive port structure was connected to navigable lakes, including Lucrino and D'averno. Today, divers can explore the remains of this ancient harbor, encountering sections of the port wall and some decorative mosaics. Visibility typically ranges from 3 to 5 meters. This site provides a unique opportunity to experience the grandeur of Roman engineering and naval history.
