About this dive site

This dive site is located on the east side of the Blue Cave, within Isola Bella Marine Park in Taormina, Italy. The dive begins at a shallow depth of 10 meters, just adjacent to the Blue Cave and oriented towards the east. Divers descend gradually to 20 meters along a sloping wall characterized by moray eels, rock formations, and sponges. At 30 meters, they reach the entrance to ‘Siphon,’ a submerged passage that offers a unique exploration experience. Entering the siphon with torches reveals a vibrant ecosystem teeming with thousands of red shrimps alongside potential sightings of forkbeard fish and a large moray eel actively pursuing them. Various nudibranch species, including the pink flabellina, can also be observed. Returning towards the surface, the dive continues at 14 meters, encountering octopus and groupers. The final stage involves a shallow ascent to 5 meters beneath the boat, providing an opportunity to search for small marine life inhabiting the sea grasses. Stingrays and amberjack may occasionally be spotted in the clear blue waters.
