About this dive site
This dive site, Targa Gonzatti, is located very close to the renowned Secca Gonzatti dive site within a marine park. It features a beautiful wall teeming with marine life and a diverse underwater environment blending rocky formations and Posidonia seagrass meadows. Navigation is relatively straightforward, following the wall's structure. The site likely got its name from a landmark or feature on the seabed, possibly a marker or plateau.
The abundant marine life here includes significant schools of corvina, moray eels, octopus, snappers, groupers, and occasional tuna. Various smaller fish and invertebrates would also populate the rocky areas and seagrass beds. The presence of Posidonia indicates a healthy ecosystem that supports diverse plant and animal life.
The best time to visit is likely during the warmer months (spring/summer) when visibility is typically best and marine life is most active. Experienced freedivers might find enjoyable shallow dives exploring the Posidonia, while divers can descend to the deeper sections of the wall to observe larger species. Appropriate buoyancy control is important due to the potential for contact with the rocky wall. Always check weather and sea conditions before diving.
