Testa del Leone

This dive site, Testa del Leone (Lion's Head), is located off the coast of Italy and is known for its stunning underwater wall. The upper section features numerous ravines and crevices teeming with life, while the deeper sections offer a vibrant wall adorned with colorful coral and gorgonians. Navigation is generally straightforward, following the wall structure, but divers should be mindful of potential currents. There is no known specific history or story behind the name, beyond its resemblance to a lion's head from certain angles. Marine life is abundant at Testa del Leone. Divers can expect to see a variety of fish, including groupers and snappers, inhabiting the blue water. Red coral and red gorgonians are prominent features of the wall. Nudibranchs are also frequently spotted, making this a great location for macro photography. Sunfish are a possibility in the open water. The best time to visit Testa del Leone is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer) when the water is clearer and the marine life is most active. Divers should be comfortable with moderate depth and potential currents. Freediving is possible in shallower sections, but caution should be exercised regarding depth and current strength. It is recommended to have some experience in open water dives before attempting this site.
