About this dive site
This dive site, known as Crevasse, is located on the eastern side of Tokashiki Island within Japan's renowned Kerama Islands, accessible by a one-hour boat ride from Naha. True to its name, divers can explore a distinctive crevasse formed between two reefs, offering a unique topographical experience. It's particularly recommended for divers who appreciate interesting underwater formations, with light penetrating the crevasse in summer creating a captivating scene.
The vibrant corals at Crevasse are beautiful, attracting a diverse range of marine life. Encounters with green sea turtles are common, and whitetip reef sharks can also be spotted. The site is home to various fish species including Anthias, Nudibranchs, Clark's Anemonefish, Pink Skunk Clownfish, Trumpetfish, Banded Sea Snakes, Moray Eels, Pufferfish, Lionfish, Butterflyfish, Razor Wrasse, and Parrotfish. Spiny lobsters can often be found hiding within the crevasse itself.
The best time to visit this site is during the summer months when sunlight beautifully illuminates the crevasse, enhancing the visual appeal of its unique topography. With its shallow average depth and rich marine life, Crevasse is suitable for both scuba divers and freedivers, offering ample opportunities for underwater photography. Snorkelers can also enjoy the beautiful corals and chance encounters with turtles in the shallower sections.
