About this dive site

This dive site, Hamahiga Beach, is a man-made, white-sand beach located on Hamahiga Island, Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture. Its clear, shallow waters make it an excellent and popular spot for families and beginners. Navigation is straightforward due to the minimal depth and calm conditions, ideal for leisurely exploration near the shore. While the beach itself is easily accessible, a nearby highlight, the "Flower Garden," is a 15-minute boat ride from Muluk Beach and offers vibrant coral reefs. Divers and snorkelers can observe a diverse array of small marine life within the coral reefs. This includes small tropical fish such as bears and snappers, along with fascinating macro subjects like nudibranchs, starfish, and gobies. The rich variety of small creatures makes it particularly appealing for macro photography enthusiasts. This site is suitable for visiting year-round, though warmer months offer the most comfortable conditions for water activities. It's a perfect location for beginners taking their first breaths underwater or for snorkelers looking for an easy and rewarding experience. Due to its shallow nature, it's also highly suitable for freediving practice and family-oriented water fun.
