About this dive site

This dive site, Air Cavern, is located under the rocky shores of Hannouch, Lebanon. It features a fascinating underwater cavern with a freshwater spring inside, accessible via two entrances: one at 4 meters for beginners and another at 14 meters for intermediate divers. Navigation is straightforward, following the natural contours of the cavern. There's no known historical significance attached to the site, making its appeal purely geological and biological.

Marine life within the cavern includes shrimps and crabs, which are abundant and readily observable. Occasionally, a Mediterranean monk seal may be spotted, representing a rare and exciting encounter for divers. The freshwater spring contributes to a unique ecosystem, potentially supporting specialized species not commonly found elsewhere.

The best time to visit Air Cavern is during the warmer months (May-October), when water temperatures are more comfortable and visibility is generally higher. For freediving, the shallower entrance offers ample opportunities for exploring the cavern's mouth and observing its inhabitants. Divers should be aware of potential limited visibility in certain areas of the cavern.
