About this dive site
This dive site, known as The Tunnels, is located in Lebanon and offers a shallow, easily accessible dive experience perfect for beginners. The entry point is a unique spawning pool, providing fantastic photographic opportunities. The dive site features a rocky bottom and a series of underwater tunnels, making for an interesting and visually appealing underwater exploration. Navigation is straightforward due to the shallow depth and relatively open environment.
Marine life is abundant, although not exceptionally diverse. Small fish are common, including various species native to the Mediterranean. On occasion, divers may be fortunate enough to encounter a sea turtle, adding a touch of excitement to the dive. The rocky substrate supports a variety of invertebrates and smaller creatures, providing good opportunities for macro photography.
The best time to visit The Tunnels is during the summer months (June to September) when the water is warmer, although a wetsuit is still advised due to the cold freshwater springs at the entry. The calm conditions during this period make it ideal for both scuba diving and freediving. Visibility is typically good, though it can vary depending on weather conditions. Remember to be mindful of the cold water springs at the entry point and exercise caution when exploring the rocky formations.
