About this dive site
This dive site, Banc des Licornes, boasts exceptional coral formations at depths ranging from 13 to 19 meters. Navigation is relatively straightforward, following the plateau's gentle slopes. While there's no specific historical narrative tied to the site, its pristine condition and abundant marine life make it a remarkable destination for divers and snorkelers alike. The area is known for its rich biodiversity and is likely within a protected area, given its exceptionally healthy coral.
The site is teeming with an impressive array of marine life. Smaller creatures include stonefish, leaf scorpionfish, rhinopias, various types of scorpionfish, crocodilefish, and stingrays. Larger animals that can be encountered include eagle rays and manta rays. A variety of reef fish is also abundant in the area.
The best time to visit Banc des Licornes is during the dry season (May to October) when the water is clearer and calmer. For freedivers, the shallower parts of the plateau are ideal for exploring the abundance of smaller creatures and macro life. Divers should be aware of potential currents, though generally mild. Good buoyancy control is recommended to avoid disturbing the delicate coral ecosystem.
