About this dive site
This dive site, Tanikely Sud, is part of the renowned Tanikely Marine Park off the coast of Nosy Be, Madagascar. Navigation is straightforward due to the shallow and relatively even depth. The site is known for its vibrant, healthy coral reefs and is easily accessible by boat. There is no particular historical account or significant story related to the specific location other than its inclusion in a larger, well-preserved marine park.
The underwater landscape teems with a variety of marine life. Divers and snorkelers can expect to encounter whitetip reef sharks, guitarfish, stingrays, eagle rays, torpedo rays, leopard sharks, sea turtles, groupers, stonefish, scorpionfish, and a plethora of smaller reef fish. The coral itself is diverse and healthy, making it a great spot for macro photography and general reef exploration.
The best time to visit Tanikely Sud is during the dry season (May to October) when the water is calm and visibility is at its best. The site is suitable for both scuba diving and freediving, although freediving should be done with appropriate safety measures in a shallow, well-defined area. Remember to maintain a respectful distance from the marine life and to avoid touching corals. Enjoy the beauty and diversity of this unique Madagascar reef!
