Fares Thila / Canyons

This dive site, known as Fares Thila or Canyons, is located in the Maldives and is characterized by numerous geological formations including canyons and overhangs found predominantly between 12 and 30 meters depth. These intricate structures provide excellent shelter for a diverse array of marine life. While suitable for divers of all experience levels, navigability can be challenging due to the potential for strong currents. This site is a fantastic destination for avid underwater photographers, offering numerous wide-angle opportunities with large schools of fish and intricate landscapes, as well as potential for macro subjects within the sheltered crevices. While specific seasonal highlights are not mentioned, the Maldives generally offers excellent diving conditions year-round. Divers should be highly mindful of strong currents and plan their dives accordingly, potentially incorporating drift diving techniques, which are common here. Freedivers can explore the shallower reef sections, but strong currents require advanced skill and caution.
