About this dive site

This dive site, known as Kani Corner or “Balcony”, is an exhilarating outside reef dive in the Maldives. Divers typically navigate with an east-west current, making it a classic drift dive. The underwater landscape is stunning, featuring numerous small overhangs around 20 meters deep, which add to its unique topography. There is no specific historical account provided, but its location in the popular North Malé Atoll makes it a frequently visited and renowned site. Kani Corner is renowned for its impressive marine life, especially large pelagic species. Divers can expect to encounter majestic Eagle rays, impressive White tip reef sharks, and various Stingrays often resting on the sandy bottom. Towards the top reef, Turtles and Napoleon Wrasses are frequently sighted, alongside a variety of colorful reef fish and vibrant corals typical of Maldivian reefs. The best time to visit Kani Corner is generally considered year-round, aligning with the Maldives' consistent diving season. Torches are highly recommended to illuminate the details within the overhangs and bring out the true colors of the reef. Due to the prevailing strong currents, this site is best enjoyed as a drift dive. Experienced freedivers will appreciate the chance to encounter large marine life closer to the surface, while all divers should be prepared for varying current conditions.
