About this dive site

This dive site, Mas Giri, is a vibrant, submerged coral pinnacle (giri) located approximately a 10-minute boat ride north-east of Hilton Maldives Amingiri in the North Malé Atoll. Renowned as a 'must-see' location, Mas Giri offers a spectacular display of healthy coral formations and an incredibly diverse ecosystem. Its relatively shallow depths make navigation straightforward, typically involving a circumnavigation of the reef structure, allowing divers to fully immerse themselves in the thriving underwater world. The site is a true aquarium, home to an extensive array of tropical reef fish species characteristic of the Maldives. Divers can expect to encounter graceful green sea turtles and the occasional white tip reef sharks patrolling the deeper edges. The reef is bustling with colorful parrotfish, delicate butterflyfish, bustling damsels, elegant surgeonfish, majestic angelfish, and shy rabbitfish. Macro enthusiasts will delight in spotting lionfish, lobsters, and vibrant anemone fish nestled amongst their anemones, alongside schools of snappers and sweetlips. Mas Giri is suitable for divers of all experience levels, from beginners to advanced, offering a rewarding experience due to its manageable depths and rich marine life. It is also highly recommended for snorkelers and freedivers, who can enjoy the vibrant reef and its inhabitants close to the surface. The Maldives offers good diving conditions year-round, though the dry season from December to April typically provides the calmest seas and best visibility, enhancing the overall dive experience at this magnificent site.
