Sexy Reef / Hoara Huraa

This dive site, known as Sexy Reef or Hoara Huraa, gets its playful name from a nearby sandbank where tourists from Maafushi once congregated before Bikini Beach opened. It is a vibrant reef offering excellent opportunities for both day and night dives. The site features a healthy coral ecosystem and abundant marine life, making it a generally easy and enjoyable dive experience. Divers can expect to encounter a wide array of marine species, including various fish such as midnight snappers, lionfish, and scorpionfish. The reef is particularly renowned for its macro life, with octopus, frogfish, and numerous nudibranchs. Larger inhabitants include hawksbill sea turtles, graceful Mobula rays, and even the occasional white tip reef shark, while garden eels can be found in sandy patches. Sexy Reef is an ideal destination for divers of all levels, especially those keen on macro photography and night diving. While general conditions are good year-round, specific seasons might offer better chances for encountering Mobula rays or sharks. Its shallow average depth makes it particularly suitable for freedivers and snorkelers who can enjoy the vibrant coral and fish life closer to the surface.
