About this dive site

This dive site, aptly named the 'Streets of Mulah', is situated off the northeast side of Mulah Island in the Maldives. It is characterized by four distinct reefs, locally known as 'Thilas', that run in a northwest to southeast direction. The tops of these reefs are relatively shallow, ranging from 5 to 10 meters below the surface. A unique feature of this site are the narrow sandy passages, only 5 to 10 meters wide at their tightest points, that weave between the Thilas, creating an interesting underwater labyrinth for divers to explore. The marine life at Streets of Mulah is both abundant and varied. Divers can expect to encounter impressive shoals of different fish species, including colorful sweetlips, large humpback snappers, and schools of fusiliers. The sandy channels often provide a resting place for stingrays and nurse sharks. Further out in the blue, lucky divers may spot pelagic species such as barracudas and elegant eagle rays, adding to the excitement of the dive. While specific seasonal recommendations for this site are not provided, the Maldives generally offers excellent diving conditions year-round. The combination of accessible reef tops and deeper areas makes it suitable for both freedivers and scuba divers. Divers should be prepared for potential variable currents, particularly within the narrow passages, which can create thrilling drift diving opportunities. This site is ideal for those seeking diverse marine encounters and interesting reef topography.
