About this dive site

This dive site, Toti Thila, is a small reef named after its discoverer, Instructor Toti. Its reeftop begins at a shallow depth, gradually dropping on all sides to approximately 30 meters where the vibrant corals meet the seabed, though the maximum diveable depth for the site is 24 meters. The thila boasts an intriguing topography, characterized by impressive huge black coral trees and several arms that extend away from the main reef, providing diverse areas for exploration and navigation. Marine life at Toti Thila is expected to be rich, particularly known for 'special marine encounters'. Divers can anticipate seeing a variety of pelagic species such as sharks, manta rays, and turtles, drawn to the thila's currents. The black coral trees are crucial habitats, supporting numerous reef fish like fusiliers, snappers, and groupers, along with smaller macro life nestled within the coral formations. The best time to visit Toti Thila is generally during the dry season, from December to May, offering optimal visibility and calmer conditions, though diving is possible year-round. Divers should be prepared for moderate to variable currents, which are often responsible for bringing in the larger marine animals. Its manageable depths and diverse features make it suitable for both recreational divers exploring the main reef and more experienced divers seeking pelagic action, while freedivers will also appreciate the site's characteristics.
