About this dive site

This dive site, Carolita X127, is located off the coast of Malta and features a wreck at a depth ranging from 6m to 22m on a sloping seabed composed mainly of silt and mud. Navigation involves descending to the wreck and exploring its structure, which is situated on a fairly steep incline. A surface marker buoy (DSMB) is strongly recommended due to significant boat traffic in the area. Beyond the wreck, at approximately 21m depth, a short swim (8-10 minutes) leads to the remains of an old car, providing an interesting additional feature to the dive.

The marine life at Carolita X127 is relatively diverse, with sightings of mullet, cuttlefish, cow bream, sea bream, and octopus being common. While not exceptionally abundant, there is a variety of fish and other small creatures to observe. The site does not support a particularly lively reef.

The best time to visit Carolita X127 is likely during the warmer months (May to October) in Malta when visibility is typically better and the water is warmer, which can make the dive more comfortable. Divers should always remember to use a DSMB. The site is suitable for freediving within the shallower parts of the dive site, allowing for exploration of the wreck and the surrounding area. However, it's important to stay aware of the boat traffic and maintain safe practices for freediving and scuba.
