About this dive site
This dive site offers a unique experience exploring the Blue Hole, a limestone sinkhole located in Gozo, Malta. It’s a popular destination for divers and snorkelers alike, offering sheltered access to the open sea. The site's history is tied to the collapsed Azure Window, now known as the Azure Reef, which provides new marine habitats and intriguing underwater formations. Divers can explore a circular rock formation extending up to 10 meters in width and 5 meters across, descending approximately 15 meters with an average depth of 25 meters. A lovely archway leads to a shallow pool filled with marine life, including coral and tubeworms. The area is known for its combination dives, often combining the Blue Hole exploration with the Azure Reef, which was once the Azure Window. The walk to access the site is approximately 200 meters. Due to the recent collapse of the Azure Window, caution is advised as boulders may shift or split. Shoals of Damsel Fish, Picarel, and Bogue can be seen near the outer cliff face, and Dentex or Amberjack fish might be spotted hunting further out. The site is currently in its early stages of development with algae forming on the rocks and new routes emerging.
