Merkanti Reef (Divewise House Reef)

About this dive site

This dive site is located off St. Julian’s, on the northeastern coast of Malta, near Merkanti Beach Club. It's a shallow reef consisting of two parallel sections, reaching just above the surface with a marker pole at the far end. The reef offers numerous overhangs, crevices and nooks—ideal for exploring diverse marine life. The average depth is around 10 meters, but it can reach up to 20 meters in certain areas. Accessing this offshore site involves either boat travel or a substantial swim from shore. Entry is available through a small bay between the Westin Dragonara and Hilton Malta hotels. Be mindful of boat traffic when diving and always carry a DSMB. The reef provides an engaging dive for beginners, offering opportunities to discover a variety of marine creatures within its complex structure.
