About this dive site
This dive site is P29, a former Maltese patrol boat intentionally sunk in 2007 to create an artificial reef and dive attraction. The wreck sits upright, with its highest point at 12 meters and the deepest at 34 meters. Navigation is relatively straightforward, as the wreck is easily identifiable. Divers should maintain buoyancy control to avoid damaging the fragile ecosystem developing on the wreck. Penetration may be possible for experienced divers, but caution is advised due to the potential for silt disturbance and limited visibility within the wreck.
The diverse marine life surrounding P29 is a significant draw. Divers can expect to see Mediterranean sea bream, stingrays, moray eels, grouper, common octopus, cuttlefish, red starfish, and various damselfish, among other reef fishes. The wreck itself provides a habitat for a variety of invertebrates and smaller fish.
The best time to visit is during the warmer months (May to October) when water visibility is at its best and the sea is calmer. Divers and freedivers should be aware of potential currents, and always dive within their skill level and training. Proper planning and respect for the marine environment are essential for a safe and enjoyable dive experience at this site.
