About this dive site
This dive site, known as Sirens Harbour and Sirens Reef, is located in St. Paul’s Bay on the northern coast of Malta. It’s a popular area for divers of all levels due to its accessible shore access and relatively shallow depths. The reef offers an average depth of 6 meters with a maximum depth of 12 meters, making it ideal for both beginners and experienced divers alike. The seabed is varied, featuring rocky areas interspersed with sandy patches, adorned with boulders and seagrass beds. The quay wall supports a vibrant ecosystem teeming with marine life, including moray eels, octopus, cuttlefish, scorpionfish, various species of wrasses, and bream.
The area serves as a frequently used practice and training zone for introductory dives and diving courses due to its calm waters and convenient entry/exit points – these include rocky slopes with handrails, ladders leading to rock-cut pools, or swimming directly from the pool into the open sea via a channel in the rock. Night diving is also possible here. Divers should be mindful of boat traffic as small boats regularly enter and leave the nearby harbor and bay. This site provides excellent opportunities for refresher dives, underwater photography, and developing navigation skills.
