This dive site presents a remarkable opportunity for experienced divers to explore the Um El Faroud, an oil tanker that tragically sank in La Valletta port in 1998. Located off the coast of Malta, this wreck is one of the island’s largest and offers a compelling dive experience. The wreck rests at a depth of approximately 40 meters with a maximum height of 18 meters below the seabed. It measures 115 metres in length. The site is accessible to advanced freedivers and scuba divers possessing a deep specialty license, as well as expert scuba divers holding a wreck diving certificate. Divers can expect to encounter barracuda guarding the area near the wreck’s access point, which is a short swim from the reef. The visibility at this location is typically excellent, contributing to a truly immersive experience.
