About this dive site
This dive site is located in Wied iz-Zurrieq, a small village on Malta's southern coast, just off the town of Zurrieq. It’s a popular destination for both tourists exploring the Blue Grotto and divers interested in the Um El Faroud wreck. The area offers diverse diving experiences, including walls, reefs, caves, and a unique diving helmet statue. The maximum depth is 36 meters, with depths ranging from 5+ meters to over 30 meters. Shore access is easy, making it ideal for divers of all levels, particularly beginners. West Reef & Caves features drop-offs, ledges, gullies, boulders, and two caves: Bell Tower Cave (maximum depth 27 meters) and Mouse Hole Cave (25 meters). A diving helmet statue sits on the sandy bottom about 28 meters deep, serving as a navigational landmark to Um El Faroud. East Reef is a wall dive exceeding 30 meters. The valley area itself provides excellent conditions for night dives and training sessions, with abundant marine life. Several entry/exit points are available along the quay, offering flexibility for divers. Be aware of busy boat traffic and anglers on shore.
